| For club members who are unfamiliar
with Open Cycle Races, I would like to invite you on behalf of Stratford
Cycling Club to come and see what these events are all about. This
might encourage you to either try a race or come and help out at
one of our own events.
Despite record membership, we are still struggling to get enough
people to come and help out. These events require people to help
with organising, catering, marshaling, car park directing and other
duties.
The upside of mashaling is you can see all the excitement of a race
from close quarters, sample Heather's delicious homemade goodies
and feel part of the fastest growing cycle club in the Midlands.
If you are unsure of helping out, then you will be paired with someone
who has previous experience. The races are usually held in the mornings
and help is only needed for a few hours.
The downside of not getting enough marshals is that, in future we
won't be able to hold these Club events. And if other clubs have
the same issue, there will be no more racing.
There are 4 annual events:
Open Time Trial (April) - contact
organiser
League of Vets Race (May) - contact
organiser
Spuik/Women's Road Race (June 21st) - contact
organiser
50% off all Spuik cycling products
for helpers on the day and BBQ afterwards in Shottery.
Cyclo Cross (November 22nd) - contact
organiser
If you are able to help at any of these events or would like to
come down and spectate, or even race, please contact me and I will
put you in touch with the relevant person and give you any directions
you may need.
Thank you for reading this email and we hope to see you at the next
event.
Kind regards
Miranda Harris
