SCC JUNIOR RIDERS ON TOP FORM AT CHELTENHAM CIRCUIT RACES

Round 2 on Friday 13th, saw much fairer weather – SCC jerseys dominated the races again.

In the U8's, Cerys Simmonds & Jacob Barritt fought hard, working together when they could. Cerys managed to ride clear on the last lap to finish in 1st, with Jacob close behind in 2nd place. In the U10/U12 category, Luke Simmonds had a real battle on his hands as the other riders seemed keen to control the race, but Luke rode with confidence and on the last lap there was a breakaway of 2 riders and a very fast sprint to the line. Luke finished 1st in the overall category and 1st in the U10’s setting a new course record for the fastest lap.
The next race of the evening was a-mass with SCC jerseys, with four riders competing in the U14/U16’s categories. In the U14’s Keir Lewis had a storming race, picking up a prime of £5 along the way. He managed to hold the pace with the U16 riders for a fair amount of the race and was awarded for his efforts by finishing 1st in his age category. In the U16’s, Tom Lane, Andrew Butler and Peter Musgrave battled with the hill and wind but couldn’t catch the rider who had managed a breakaway. On the last lap, the sprint was on, with Andrew looking like he was going to get to the line before Tom to take 2nd , but Tom dug deep and piped Andrew to the line.
Peter had a lonely ride for the majority of the race but was cheered on by the crowd and came over the line in a very respectable 4th place.
Well done to all SCC Juniors who had podium places in every race and plenty of smiles to go round!
Round 3 will be held on Friday 20th July – first race at 7.00 pm
