Thursday was the first in the 2009 series of Stratford Cycling Clubs time trial series. The traditional opener is a single lap of the Long Marston course which is very suitable to complete novices yet a fast enough circuit to allow the competition for the club championships to start in earnest.

There were many first time testers in the time trial including Thomas Lane, Joseph Harris, Dom Kilminster and our newest coaches Anthony Lane and Emma Kilminster. There were also some first performances for the year from relatively new cyclists Josh and Imogen Bee and visiting was Cameron Foster who rides for Banbury but has been training with SCC on the track.

The racing was very competitive with all 35 riders putting their best into the 5.2 mile circuit. The weather was good and this allowed our new star James Wall to smash the course record with 11.17, the next 3 riders also beat the previous course record. Other notable rides came from Martin Millington who is very quickly becoming a contender and John Meehan on his shiny new TT bike.
