SCC would like to thank all riders and parents who helped make our own hosted race a great success. Over 150 riders took part in various race categories, with many riders stepping our for their first ever race.

Just a reminder to all junior scc members, there are no Monday night training sessions on 6th May - this is bank Holiday.

A group of SCC Juniors (and of course, their parents), braved the elements and headed down for a very early start at Newport Velodrome today.

Junior sessions usually held on a Monday, are now closed for the Easter Holidays. Normal sessions commence on Monday 8th April

SCC are holding an informal social/race evening on Friday 15th March, for all parents/riders who want to learn more about racing. The evening will commence at 7.00pm and will be held at the Home Guards Club in Tiddington.

The first of the road season race commenced on Saturday 9th March, with SCC Juniors travelling to Milton Keynes Bowl for the MK Early Bowl series.

After discussions with coaches, we have decided that the only safe thing to do is to cancel training tonight - due to very cold and icy weather conditions.

If you are interested in attending your first closed road circuit race, then there will be a few of us attending the 1st race of the season at Milton Keynes.

Keir Lewis & Tom Lane, both took part in the recent British Cycling NSRs held at Castle Coombe.

We will be switching back to track sessions on Monday 25th Feb - so road bikes needed for groups 2 upwards (if possible).

For those of you with children wanting to use SPD clip-in type pedals, it can be difficult to get shoes small enough for children.

Redditch Road & Path are holding a series of Go-Ride Cyclo=Cross races. The first will take place on Wednesday 12th Feb at 6.30 pm

As the weather forecast is still very unsettled for the next few days, we have decided to cancel all training sessions at Tiddington, scheduled for Monday 21s Jan.
Please pass this message onto your friends or anyone else that may not see this message.

There will be normal track session on Monday (not indoor as stated on the newsletter).

We are still intending to run normal sessions this evening. Please ensure you have plenty of warm and dry clothes as it is going to be cold. We will update this page if anything changes later.

A big thanks to John Johnson for lending the use of his land - or should I say 'mud bath' for this event. It was well attended and has been given great reviews on the WMCCL forum.
Here are the provisional results from the race.

Boxing Day sees the traditional Coventry Road club cyclocross event, held on Kenilworth Common.
This was the 59th year this event has been staged and even the recent bad weather failed to stop it going ahead.

Sunday 9th Dec saw the Midlands Championship Cyclocross races take part at Beaumont Leys, Leicester. We had riders in the U8, U12 & U16's races.

The annual awards evening and Christmas Party for the SCC Juniors, will take place on Friday 14th December. The venue is the Home Guards Club (next to the Tiddington Track), from 7.00 pm

We are very sorry but the planned training session planned for Saturday 24th Nov has been cancelled.

Just a reminder, Rd 7 of the WMCCL takes place on Sunday 25th November. This round is organised and hosted by Stratford CC so we do hope as many of you as possible are going to come along to show your support.

We are holding a cyclocross training session on Saturday 24th November for all SCC riders. The session will run from 2.00 - 3.30 at Moreton Morrell Agricultural College, Moreton Morrell, CV35 9BL.

Round 6 of the WMCCL took place in the beautiful surroundings of Misterton Hall nr Rugby. The course was a mixture of meadow land, wooded areas, tarmac straights, with a mixture of tight 180o turns, wooden bridges and tricky bends, the days racing looked like being another exciting event to watch.

We are very sorry but the planned training session planned for Saturday 24th Nov has been cancelled.

IMPORTANT - THE PLANNED TRAINING SESSION FOR SAT 24TH NOV HAS BEEN CANCELLED. THE AREA PLANNED FOR THIS IS WATER LOGGED. RACES WILL GO AHEAD ON SUNDAY AS PLANNED.

On a very foggy, grey Sunday, Rd 5 of the WMCCL took place at Solihull Country Park. Conditions on the course were extremely challenging with deep mud covering large portions of the course, with the remainder being very wet grass with a mixture of steep muddy banks and tight tree lined turns.

Rd 7 of the WMCCL will be hosted by Stratford Cycling Club and takes place on Sunday 25th November. In order for this race to take place, we need lots of assistance from parents BUT more importantly we need our new Stratford Junior riders to have a go at racing!

For all our new riders and parents and any prospective newcomers we are holding an introduction to SCC juniors at the Home Guard Club from 7-8pm on the 1st of October. Please come along and learn what SCC has to offer the youth section.

Cycling Sessions will run as usual tonight, we do not cancel sessions unless it is snowy or very icy. We suggest bringing rain coat/change of clothes and warm drinks for riders. Note there will also be a change to registration procedures.

The 1st race of the cyclocross league takes place this Sunday. The venue is at Pitcher Oak Woods, Redditch, B97 4SP and is being hosted by Redditch Road & Path Cycling Club. Please see the WMCCL website for further details.

SCC are holding a cluster club cyclocross training session on Sunday 9th Sept, which is open to all local cycling clubs at the Home Guards Club, Main Street, Tiddington, Stratford, CV37 7AY. Session fee is £3.00

SCC would like to thank Des for all his super efforts in clearing the track ready for Cyclo-Cross on 3rd Sept.

Our new term starts on Monday 3rd Sept and we are now into the Cyclo-Cross Season so our sessions switch to Cyclo-Cross training at the usual venue.

The venue is Newport National Velodrome in Wales on Saturday 20th Oct, between 18.00 to 20.00. We are hoping there will be enough interest for us to book a coach for the journey.

Round 2 on Friday 13th, saw much fairer weather – SCC jerseys dominated the races again.

During the school summer holidays, there will be a parent/junior social ride on Monday Eves. This will start at the Milcote Crossroads (on the Greenway) at 6.30 pm.

SCC Juniors were also racing at round 4 of the Curbourgh Series. In the U16's race, Tom Lane had another great race finishing in 3rd place. In the U12's John Chesney rode very strongly, staying with the main pack and managing to finish in the main field. Well done to both riders.

Friday 6th July saw the 1st of the Cheltenham Leisure Lakes circuit races. On another very wet and soggy evening SCC junior riders braved the elements and were rewarded for their efforts.

The last track cycling session for this term is 16th July. We would like to invite all families to bring along a picnic to enjoy before or after the sessions. This is a great way to chat with parents and let the kids have some fun.

Last Wednesday 40 young riders from all over the West Midlands region descended on Aldersley for the first multi club coaching session. The event proved a real success with lots of positive feedback from riders and parents and further events will now follow.

Please note, we will be holding further badge testing for Bike Craft on this date. This is for Groups 1 & 2. Can all parents with children in groups 1 & 2, read and learn the following 10 questions please.

Please note, there is a change to the previously stated session for the 28th May. We will be undertaking the speed and endurance testing for Badges 1 & 2. See details below.

Just a reminder that the Stratford Cycling Festival takes place this weekend (26th & 27th May) at Stratford Race Course.

On the May Bank holiday weekend, two of Stratford Cycling Club’s youth riders together with their fathers headed off for the Isle of Man Youth Tour. Kier Lewis was representing the U14 boys and Tom Lane for the U16 boys.
The Tour is the first event in the 2012 National Youth Road series, but is probably the most challenging of all the events. Its format is that of a tour covering 3 days of racing in different types of road events.

Well, what can we say about the terrible weather on Sunday? Despite this Luke Simmonds still wanted to race at the 2nd round of the Back on Track MTB XC at Top Barn Farm on Sunday 29th April.

The weather was very kind on Saturday and ended up being sunny and bright when the first race commenced at 9.30. Taking part in the U8's were Jacob Barrit, Cerys Simmonds and Spencer Corder. Representing Stratford in the U10's were Kieran Speechly, Luke Simmonds & Jonno Todd.

Sunday 16th April was the annual HONC 'Hell of the North Cotswolds', off road endurance ride. Luke Simmonds has been wanting to compete in this ride since the age of 4 and has finally fulfilled his ambition!

Just a reminder that the normal track training sessions commence again on Monday 16th April. Groups 1 & 2 starting at 6.00 prompt!

If any parents of SCC Juniors are able to supply a cake for this event, it would be very much appreciated. We will be serving refreshments for riders and all proceeds made help support the club. A home-made or shop cake would be just great. If you could bring your donations on the day and leave at the signing on table with Ruth or Gaynor. SCC will be hosting their first Youth Race on Saturday 21st April 2012. The event is being held at Victoria Park, Leamington Spa. The first race starts at 9.00 for the U8/U10's with registration opening at 8.30.

Just over 12 months ago, SCC could not get anyone on to the Regional School of Racing (RSRs), but following some excellent coaching things have gone from good to even better!

Stratford Juniors would like to say a big 'HELLO' to the newest member of Stratford Cycling Club. Mary Elizabeth Heenan arrived safely on Tuesday April 3rd 2012. We would all like to extend our warmest wishes to Helen, Tom and Ned and look forward to seeing you all soon.

There will be a change to the format of the training session on Monday 26th March. We will be running some races between 6.00 - 7.15 for all those who wish to race (along the lines of Go-Ride Racing). This will then be followed by a bike fitting workshop.

Louise Day from British Cycling will be running Go-Ride Coaching during the Easter Holiday as Follows: April 10th, 11th, 12th & 13th - suitable for ages 6 - 16. Riders will be split into ability groups (novices and race riders).

Please note: The training session on Monday 20th Feb will be held indoors at the Home Guards Club, Tiddington. The session will start at the early time of 6.30. Please arrive promptly as the session will commence as follows:

A big thank you to all of you who attended our Junior Awards eve last Saturday. Thank you for your kind donations of food and raffle prizes. We hope you all enjoyed the evening and the quiz questions were not too difficult!

On a snowy Saturday evening Stratford cycling club was represented at the British Cycling annual awards night at the Hilton Metropol at the NEC. The event was attended by nearly 600 people from six disciplines of cycling, with about 200 award winners. Stratford cycling club had 3 winners in the volunteering section.

This was the last race of the season and started on a cold and foggy morning. The course was very technical with plenty of steep banks and loads of mud!!!

Sunday 22nd Jan was the penultimate race of the season and the day started on a sunny but windy day at Wolverhampton. SCC had 4 riders starting in the first race.

The junior awards evening/late party will take place on Saturday 11th February at the Home Guards Club, Tiddington from 7.00 onwards.

Please note, on Monday 30th Jan we will not be holding any track training but we will be running an indoor session at the Home Guards Club from 7.00 pm onwards.

The last round of the WMCCL league will be held on 29th Jan at Baggeridge Country Park, Sedgley. The usual age categories apply, with racing starting at 10.15 for the U8/U10's. Entry on the day.

The 1st of a series of 3 Youth Races will be held on Saturday 3rd March at Tudor Grange Park, Solihull. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT YOU MUST PRE-ENTER VIA THE BRITISH CYCLING WEBSITE. Spaces are limited for each race.

Go-Ride Cyclo-Cross races are taking place on Monday 23rd Jan at the Tiddington Track. This event is for U16's novice riders only. Signing on is from 5.30.

It was great to see so many SCC junior riders at this event, despite it being a very windy New Years Day. A big thank you to all the parents who managed to get up early to get the riders to this event.

Good luck to Tom & Preslav who are competing in National Trophy Rd 6 Cyclo-Cross Event on Sunday 15th Jan. The event is being held at the Sundorne Sports Village in Shrewsbury. The U16's race starts at 13.30.

SCC Membership is now up for renewal. Please visit the membership section of the Junior area for further details of membership benefits/costs and forms etc.

Normal cyclo-cross training sessions will commence again on Monday 9th Jan. Session times as normal 6.00 - 7.00 for groups Pooley & Romero and 6.45 - 8.00 for groups Cooke & Pendleton.

The only Stratford Rider in the U10's & U12's for his race was Luke Simmonds aged 9. Luke rode most of the race in 3rd position and was hoping for his 1st podium but sadly after a slight tumble on the last lap, we was overtaken and had to settle for a very well deserved 4th place finish.

This event is being held at the same location as rd 4 but promises to be more exciting, with a new, longer more technical course layout and a ride thru Belgian sytle marquee. Please note a parking charge of £2 is required.

We are very sorry to have to inform you but due to temporary lack of floodlights at the Tiddington Track - we have had to make the decision to cancel the Go-Ride Racing planned for Monday 19th Dec. We are very sorry about this but the Go-Ride racing planned for Monday 23rd Jan, should go ahead.

Turbo Sessions for older Juniors will commence on Wed 4th Jan. They will be held at the FISCC Hut (located in the car park). The sessions will be for period of 10 weeks, session time is 6.30 - 8.00pm. Session costs are £3 or £25 for 10 weeks.

The event is being held in the same place as Lichfield CC event earlier in the season. The postcode for the event is WS15 2UA. For those who didn't attend the previous event please be aware that the HQ is not at the Forestry Centre. By using the postcode it will get you within 1/4 mile of the HQ. The event sill be sign posted and there will be a charge of £2 per car for parking.

Please join us on Monday 12th Dec at the Tiddington Track for a very festive cyclo-cross evening. There will be prizes for the best dressed bike/junior (please do this safely as you will still need to be able to ride your bike!). Mulled wine & mince pies will be available for parents of SCC juniors and hot choc/squash and mince pies for SCC junior riders.

On Friday 25th November, SCC hosted its annual awards evening at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stratford. This year the club were delighted to have the pleasure of Magnus Bäckstedt as a special after dinner speaker.

There will be Go-Ride Cyclo-Cross racing evenings on Monday Dec 19th 2011 & Monday 23rd Jan 2012 at The Home Guards Track, Tiddington. Races start at 6.00 with signing on from 5.30. Races open to u16's novice riders. £3 entry fee payable on the day

As you may know we have the West Midlands Cyclo Cross League round 8, organised by Stratford CC taking place on the 20th of November. As the majority of Stratford CC riders are juniors at this event then we are looking for volunteers from the junior parents to help out either on the race day and/or setting up the course on the Saturday 19th (9.30am at Norgren Shipston on Stour)

As Round 9 of the WMCCL to be held on 4/12/11 at Shrewsbury is also a Midlands Championship event, all riders except those in u8/u10/u12's must enter in advance.

Please note, there will be no Monday Eve Cyclo-Cross session on 24th October due to Half Term Holidays. Sessions resume as usual on Monday 31st October. We look forward to see you all then.

Welland Valley Cycling Club will be hosting round 7 at Misterton Hall, Lutterworth, A4034, Junction 20, M1. This is a popular cross circuit, consists of an excellent mix of fast woodland, gravel paths, grassland and tarmac.

Solihull CC looks forward to hosting Rd 6 at Elmdon Park on 16 October. The courses will be very similar to last year but with a couple of slight variations. There will be portaloos in the park this year for the first time, but no burger van. However, there will be a cake stall and nice coffee. Signing-on will be next to the finish area - as it was last year.

As from 1st October 2011, the winter timings are now in operation for Monday evening Cyclo-Cross training sessions as follows:

The 10th round of the West Midland Cyclo Cross League (WMCCL) was also a regional Championship event, drawing competitors from other Midlands leagues and so increasing the pressure on Stratford Cycling Club junior riders.

Nine families and thirty eight riders arrived on a stormy looking Friday evening at Callow Top campsite just north of Ashbourne and right next to the Tissington Trail, for a weekend of camping, cycling and fun.

A very pleasing thirty-two riders turned out to the first Stratford CC hosted Go-Ride interclub today, undaunted by the very stormy night, and relishing the prospect of a gutsy race!

It is time to start planning the new year of cycling. The first thing to do is to make sure you have paid your club membership , the forms should be filled out and sent to Roger. The forms are on this website in the membership section and Roger’s address is on the form, cheques should be made to Stratford Cycling Club.
