TIME TRIAL ROUTE PROFILES

K25/10c | K25/5 | K33/5.75 | K33/10S | K33/25

K25/10c - Clifford Chambers 10.

This course starts from a field entrance about 100m south of the little parking road off to the east of the B4632, caution this is on a junction. The route simply follows the B4632 south until the mini roundabout at Mickleton then returns up the B4632 finishing in line with the south side of the parking road.

Whilst the road looks quiet and generally is there is a large warehouse complex at Long Marston and this attracts some big lorries, the road is not as wide as many time trial roads and some of the bends whilst not blind could not be described as open so don’t be fooled by the apparent lack of traffic.

The turn at the mini round about is tight and the turn is 30m higher than the start/finish, with this road aligned with the prevailing winds this usually means for a slow out fast back feel. Only the turn at the mini-roundabout requires braking for.

Caution should be advised at the start and on the return the drain covers have pot holes around them. There has been a large pot hole on a drain near the finish (within the last mile) and you should be careful to avoid this.

K25/5 - Long Marston Loop

This loop starts from the north end of the lay-by on the B 4632 just south of Long Marston Barracks/Storage.

The loop goes north on the B4632 and turns first left signposted Long Marston. At the end of this road turn left and folly this road to its end and turn left at the end, this will then lead you to the start finish area. The finish line is coincident with the start line.

This route looks flat but actually the low point is at the most northerly point of the loop just before the greenway and this is 20m lower than the high point just before the start finish.

This route is on quiet roads and the left handed loop is quite fast although the second left turn is approached with the appearance that you can see to clear the junction before you actually can due to the bushes on the right. The road south of the railway bridge has just been resurfaced (2007) but this is used 24hours a day by HGV’s using the recycling depot so subject to rapid wear. Also the road between this depot and the B4632 can be dirty with mud, oil and sometimes glass so a pre-ride is well advised to have a look for yourself. Plenty of safe parking is available in the lay-by at the start finish, this is poor tarmac with lots of gravel and sometimes broken glass, caution for punctures.

K33/5.75 - Aston Cantlow Loop

This loop starts and finishes at the end of the large field entrance about 100m north of the crossroads between the roads to Great Alne, Walcote, Aston Cantlow and Bearly. The loop goes north up this little road, left through Aston Cantlow, left at the end over the River Alne, left into Little Alne along the road into Great Alne, first left in the village and first left again past the river and left at the cross roads to the start finish.
Parking is on the verge near the start finish, these are country roads so try to tuck your car in close or we will all get squeezed when racing, better still this is a short quiet pedal from town!

The route as its high point at the top of the Col de Great Alne, a 200m stretch of 1:10 leaving you 27m higher than the low point. The descent is fast, winding but safe (maybe not for novices on aero-bars though!) the left turns are all relatively well sighted but don’t get lulled into a false sense of security with the quiet roads.

The left turn in Great Alne has been Gravelly since Pontious was a pilot and the road after here past the River Alne is as rough as a badgers arse and narrows through the trees so watch for cars coming the other way. With lots of corners, steep climbs, a sweeping descent and rough surface you might ride a road bike to the same effect as a TT bike.

K33/10S - Salford Priors 10

This course starts about 150m north of the turning to Harvington at a field entrance. Follow the road north east then turn left at the roundabout with the A46, north up the A46 dual Carriageway and turn at the roundabout at the top returning down the A46, right at the roundabout and back through Salford Priors. The finish is about 200m short of the start.

This route undulates through 30m and the dual carriage way rollercoasters through 20m. The road through Salford Priors is fast and quiet, the Dual Carriage way is generally quieter by the evening time trials but it remains a trunk road and should be treated with respect. The road surface is good and fast throughout but care should be take on the roundabout at the turn, there is a petrol station here and it has been known for diesel spillages here.

Parking is on the verge just before the Harvington turn, this is well manicured grass so respect it please.

Note if you are using this as reference for an open event then parking and HQ should be taken from the RTTC Handbook however will be sign posted from this point.

K33/25s - Salford Priors 25.

You must read the K33/10 first, the start and finish points are virtually the same the route is similar too but longer.

Start as if you are riding the 10, then when you have been up and back the A46 you must do this again, the third time at the Bidford roundabout go straight on towards Evesham on the A46, at the next round about turn and come back up the A46 turning left and the Bidford roundabout the 4th time and riding back to Salford Priors.

The same risks are present on this course and the note on diesel spills is true for the southern turn also as there is a petrol station here too.
